Experience Plum Day & Cookery Class (Spring Edition)
We warmly invite you to join us for a springtime stroll through Kadoorie Farm, celebrating the peak harvest of fresh green plums. Along the way, our team will share stories about sustainable agroforestry design.
As we wander through the natural scenery, you’ll have the chance to hand-pick organic plums. This limited-time experience lets you follow the journey “from field to table.” In the evening, gather with fellow participants to prepare traditional pickled delicacies, drawing on the traditional wisdom of making pickles. With the bounty of green plums at its peak, we’ll begin by explaining pickled plums and explore the use of rice koji—discovering the subtle interplay between daily living and nature’s microorganisms. Together, we’ll share the joy of creating and savoring homemade pickles.
- Green Plums Harvest Fun
- Shuttle bus service provided between Tai Wo MTR Station and Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden (including an in‑farm shuttle tour).
- Harvest organic green plums at KFBG and learn about sustainable agricultural practices.
- Each participant will receive 300g of local organic ume plums.

2.Pickle Fun Cookery Class
- Deomonstration of making organic shiso plum pickles (Participant will receive 300g of local organic ume plums, shiso leaves, and necessary ingredients for continued practice at home)
- Traditional Umeboshi Miso Sauce DIY (Participants will receive locally sourced organic plums that have undergone over one year of fermentation for sauce preparation to take home)
- Introduction to Koji utilization and demonstration of making amazake for pickle-making applications.
