Vegan Quinoa Millet Rice Dumpling Cookery Class

Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday that falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month (22 June 2023). Apart from watching dragon boat races, we also eat sticky rice dumplings, a traditional festive food. However, most commercially available versions are high in calories and fat, and so excessive consumption may become a burden to our bodies. To enjoy the festive fun to the full without feeling the guilt of eating too much fat, this cooking class uses organic tri-coloured quinoa, millet and sticky rice to make the dumplings, accompanied by chickpeas, peanuts, mung beans, red beans and red dates, to enhance the natural sweetness.

During the cookery class, participants will learn techniques for handling the ingredients and wrapping the dumplings. The class will also share tips on low-carbon cooking.

Each participant can make five quinoa millet dumplings, please bring your own food container.

* Since the dumplings take time to cook, you will need to take the wrapped ones made in the class home for boiling.

The cookery class is taught in Cantonese.

Date: 17 June (Sat) or 18 June (Sun) 2023
